1 Journal Overview

The journal Tehnički vjesnik – Technical Gazette was established in 1993 with the primary aim of publishing high-quality scientific research in the fields of mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering, along with its interdisciplinary and boundary areas. It has developed a strong reputation over time for promoting applied and theoretical advancements across diverse technical domains.

The journal adopts an integrated and multidisciplinary approach, encouraging research that connects theory with practice. It covers a wide spectrum of topics, including research design, engineering analysis, manufacturing processes, system performance validation, and real-world applications. This broad scope allows for the inclusion of studies that bridge multiple engineering disciplines and contribute to innovation and technological development.

2 Scope and Focus

The scope of the journal extends beyond traditional engineering boundaries to include emerging and hybrid fields where engineering principles intersect with other scientific domains. The journal emphasizes the following:

  • Development and application of engineering technologies
  • Design and optimization of systems and processes
  • Experimental validation and performance analysis
  • Practical implementation of engineering solutions

This comprehensive focus ensures that published work contributes not only to academic knowledge but also to industrial and practical advancements.

3 Classification of Papers

Upon acceptance, submitted manuscripts are categorized into one of three main types, depending on their purpose, depth, and contribution to the field.

3.1 Original Scientific Papers

Original scientific papers present novel contributions based on either theoretical or experimental research. These papers are expected to provide a complete and detailed account of the study, ensuring transparency and reproducibility.

Authors must include sufficient methodological and experimental detail so that other researchers can replicate the study and verify the findings. This includes clear descriptions of procedures, measurements, data analysis, and theoretical calculations. The emphasis is on originality, rigor, and scientific validity.

Such papers typically make a significant contribution to knowledge by introducing new models, methods, technologies, or insights supported by strong empirical or analytical evidence.

3.2 Preliminary Communications

Preliminary communications are intended to report early-stage findings or initial scientific results that are of interest to the research community. These papers may introduce new ideas, observations, or developments but do not provide the full level of detail required for complete validation or replication.

Although less detailed than full scientific papers, preliminary communications play an important role in disseminating timely information and encouraging further investigation within the field.

3.3 Subject Review Papers

Subject review papers provide a comprehensive overview of the current state of knowledge in a specific area of engineering or technology. These papers analyze existing literature, identify trends, and discuss future directions.

Such papers typically conclude with an extensive and well-structured reference list, offering readers a valuable resource for further study in the field.

4 Contribution to the Scientific Community

Through its structured categorization and broad scope, the journal supports different types of scholarly contributions, ranging from original research to critical reviews. This approach enables the dissemination of both mature, validated studies and emerging ideas, fostering innovation and collaboration within the engineering community. The journal’s emphasis on both theoretical rigor and practical application ensures that published research remains relevant to academia, industry, and technological development.
